“Vigno with a “G” for Carignan, is the name of the name of the Secano Interior del Maule, which rescues the heritage of its ancient vines and traditions, whose main grape variety is Carignan. Morandé Vigno is a blend of Carignan and Syrah, from old vines, planted head-on in the coastal dryland of the Maule Valley.” - Ricardo Baettig

A Mediterranean variety is reborn in Maule to show its unique character. Cultivated for more than 50 years naturally in the dry lands of the Maule region, the vines of this variety are planted on gentle hills and pruned head or Gobelet. The predominant types of soil are granitic and metamorphic rock. Our objective is to showcase the excellence of Carignan and its ability to harmonize with other Mediterranean varieties, such as Syrah, and incorporate the elegance of Chardonnay, maintaining at the same time the seal of its own origins in that rugged, humble and happy.

This vineyard was planted in the 1950s. It is located in an area nestled in the Cordillera of the coast of the Maule region. This sector, called ‘dryland’, has very poor soils and eroded. The topography is undulating and the vineyards are planted on gentle hills with an exhibition facing the east. The vines are Gobelet or head pruned.

Very intense purple red color with pronounced aromas of sour cherries, red cherries and black plums with subtle floral notes of violets, plus touches of coffee and dark chocolate. The flavor has a tremendous character, with juicy red fruit reminiscent of cherries and raspberries, and with slight floral and toasted wood notes. The structure is young and taut, with great persistence, concentration and tannins that promise a long life for in front of.
